Whisper: Duality of LR

Hi there, disela sela gue menyelesaikan skripsi sebenarnya ingin banget bisa posting sesuatu tapi ternyata Tuhan berkehendak lain. Mager banget, mana laptop sempet rusak dan harus service beberapa minggu, on the meantime I gotta use my sis or dad's to do my thesis karena udah ditanya terus "Kapan mau sidang wahai anakku yang lebih banyak buka tab youtube daripada buka word?"
Mungkin Tuhan masih baik sama gue bulan ini, setelah dua mingguan laptop gue akhirnya kembali dengan keadaan fit saat VIXX LR mau comeback. Lol. So yes, I'm about to write about VIXX again. LMAO.
Gue sebenernya pingin konten di blog ini selang seling antara hobby, interest, musings sama buku. Tapi udah lama banget engga baca buku sampai akhirnya Ravi akhir-akhir ini spotted holding a book on the airports even revealed himself that he's into books lately karena ingin lebih 'merasa'. Yes, we're Aquarius are actually sensitive about lots of things but have no idea to respond or let it say we sometimes find it hard to express some particular emotion ourselves, apalagi yang namanya vulnerability itu lho, beuuuuuh I just can't get used to it and it just saddening (omg kok jadi curhat). Buat dia sih kayaknya dengan baca buku bisa bantu untuk bikin lirik secara si doi kan in charge of producing di grup nya.
Anyway, VIXX kembali lagi dalam wujud VIXX LR. Usually when a group is more established, that is the time when collaboration efforts within the group
rises to form an unit. Setelah full team berkarir dengan enam onggok member selama tiga tahun, on 2015 VIXX was debuting their first sub-unit called VIXX LR with Leo (vocalist) and Ravi (rapper) as a tandem, sekarang mereka kembali setelah dua tahun (insert lots of happy tears emoji here pls) with a smooth and ofc sensual and unexpectedly mid-tempo R&B song called Whisper. Sungguh jauh dengan lagu Beautiful Liar di 2015 silam yang pernah bikin gue mules pas liat translate-an liriknya, tapi instrumentalnya jujur indah banget. Juara galaunya. Ya, dulu sih mereka ngegarap genre ballad.

GAY BANGET PARAH GAY GAY GAY. Lmao.
Ternyata pas ditonton enggak terlalu 'gay' and this one is an actual beautifully-shot music video to boot.
With a duo consisting of a vocalist and a rapper, it may be
difficult to balance out the parts since songs usually consist mostly of vocals
with supporting rap parts. Tapi kayaknya enggak berlaku disini. It's switching without any awkwardness. Everything is done smoothly, not to mention that the both part are equally divided. Jadi gak ada tuh cerita vokal banyak, rap nya sedikit.
Sudah jangan kau tanya lagi siapa concept kings di industri ini, its obviously and always be VIXX. But for me this duo, consisting two composer/producer/writer, walaupun dari grup yang sama, it doesn't mean that they need to be a unit of a concept kings. Personally thinking dan gue sih pinginnya ini jadi duo musisi aja, terlepas dari mereka yang emang lumayan strong buat bikin konsep ini itu karena image awal grupnya, tapi gue lebih suka menganggap mereka sebagai an unit that contain two musician yang memproduksi lagu mereka sendiri dengan gayanya sendiri instead of being a sub-unit of VIXX yang juga harus memoles diri dengan konsep.
Kalau ada konsep pun mungkin kali ini konsepnya akan:
GAY. GAY. SUPER GAY. Okay, mari hentikan.
Leo and Ravi, such a beautiful contrast, isn't it? Not only in their
roles of vocalist and rapper, but also in their individual styles and
musicality. Sebuah dualitas ini mungkin jadi inspirasi. Terbukti sejak Beautiful Liar yang kontras hitam/putih, secara konsisten kali ini mereka jadi si biru dan si merah. Entah kenapa dua warna itu yang dipilih dari sekian banyak warna. On the first sight those colors are easily drawn me to think about Chelsea vs Arsenal or Pepsi vs Coca Cola. So which team are you?
Kedua warna ini melambangkan karakter dan ekspresi manusia dengan perbedaan yang jelas dan kontras antara warna biru dan merah. Biru biasa melambangkan sesuatu yang tenang, adem dan kalem. On the other hand, merah melambangkan passion, enthusiasm and strength. Ya pokoknya pesan yang ingin di-deliver sama music video-nya sendiri adalah 'the feelings of youth', dengan representasi dari dua warna yang kontras tersebut, yang mengekspresikan dua karakter yang sangat bertolak belakang. Pabaliut ye gak si?
The video starts off with the two members encountering but
not acknowledging each other. Ravi serba biru dan Leo serba merah. Kok kebalik? Memang. Ravi has a blue notebook
engraved with the letter “L” on it, meanwhile Leo yang dateng-dateng dengan gaya urakan, punya headphone dengan emboss "R".
Komentar gue waktu liat scene ini juga sama sih, "LHO KOK TERBALIK YHA MZ? MANA YANG BENER INIH?!" But my question is answered shortly as the video played, tiba tiba ada transisi yang entah bagaimana caranya dunia peran mereka terbalik (?) The colors are crossed over and they move away from present day to
another, perhaps, parallel universe, where Ravi represents red and Leo represents blue. Nah, ini baru sesuai dengan foto-foto teaser yang udah di-reveal dari beberapa minggu sebelum videonya rilis. Tapi kalau dilihat lagi ternyata foto-fotonya pada gak konsisten ya, soalnya ada juga Leo yang pakai atribut merah dan sebaliknya. Huft.
Ok, moving on.
With red being the color of passion and strong energy, sangat masuk akal kayanya kalau atribut Ravi disini selain serba merah tapi style nya lebih ke dominan. Well, as you can see in the first half of the video, he is clad in
accessories and tattoos, and is dressed in tough jersey-like tank top; bahkan eyemakeup nya ada nuansa-nuansa bening merah. Yes, the red-accented eye look, ya know what I mean.
And there’s Leo, indoors, bajunya bener bener simpel, kayak baju orang mau jum'atan, nyalem. Ofc in blue. He is surrounded by yarn strings (of fate, perhaps?), dan di set dia banyak buku numpuk. Ala-ala kostan cowok banget deh, berantakan. Bukunya numpuk tuh gatau buku siapa, buku diktat ato bahan skripsi ya, meneketehe.
Di salah satu buku yang dia ambil dengan cover tulisan 'Whisper', he saw a constellation-like illustration of two people. One blue
and one red, holding hands. OMG itu bukannya simbol zodiak Gemini? Then I realized that VIXX debut was on May 24th so therefore VIXX's zodiac is Gemini, but lol, teori apaan ini? Terus simbolnya cocok, gay gay gitu, okedeh angkut.

| Later I found out that this book is actually Cornelia Funke's Inkheart. Gue baca bukunya pas SMP banget dan enggak pernah tergerak untuk nonton filmnya entah kenapa. |
FYI, mulai dari sini yang GAY GAY itu akan bermunculan, ciaaa.
Ravi juga melihat simbol yang sama tapi dengan perspektif yang berbeda, perspektif orang ganteng. (IYA UDAH)
Lalu apa hubungannya dengan simbol ini? Ea. Jadi Leo dan Ravi dengan warnanya masing-masing yang melambangkan karakter yang berbeda, bagaimanapun bentuk emosinya, mereka akan tetap satu. Kenawhy? Karena mereka gay? Bukan. Its up to to you to think that way but for me despite that Leo and Ravi symbolize calm and enthusiasm which is different, they feel the same emotions. In the end, nyatanya, mereka tetap satu. Bisa dilihat dari beberapa scene yang punya makna yang mirip tapi dalam perspektif masing-masing yang jelas akan terlihat berbeda. Its your job to find out!
At a moment you'll see Leo's lightning turns red, and red tinted Ravi turns into blue. Terbalik lagi kan, hayo bingung.
From here you can expect to see more gay content. Seperti yang satu ini, they are blending into one, to be somewhat purplish color.

After that, they were in a room of two,...wait, why it sounds so *sigh*, maapin. Pokoknya mereka kayak terlempar dalam satu kamar dan mereka berpose seperti ini:

At the end, dalam kehidupan yang sesungguhnya, pas lagunya abis dan saat Leo berdiri, eh, ada yang nyangkut. They finds each other shoelace tied up, lol. Awkward ga sih kalo ini kejadian sama kita dan orang asing? Haha. Jadi apa maksud tali-tali ini? Preverent them for separating atau ini tanda kalau mereka jodoh?
While the video doesn’t make clear their relationship,
leaving it up to viewers’ imagination (fanfiction, anyone?), it’s clearly a
soulmate concept at its finest. Jadi tetap mereka itu satu walau berbeda, they feel the same emotions after all.
Lalu apa hubungannya dengan 'the feelings of youth' yang sudah gue sampaikan di awal? The two color basically represent two emotions of people, or the youth on their 20s. Hidup yang masih nyari jati diri, hidup di fase dimana masih puber. Youth is hard to live with only coldness, hidup kalem-kalem aja, ngikutin arus aja, di damprat orang juga mau diem aja? Hidup juga akan sulit kalau cuman hanya ngikutin passion tanpa konsiderasi atau peka sama lingungan di sekitar. So in the end, live, is about to harmonize the two emotions. That's why they're actually one, a soulmate.
Jadi........ini.......tentang.....gay?
Silakan dijawab sendiri ya. Kebanyakan makan fanfic nih yang anggepnya beginian.
They use 'Girl' on the lyric because they're not gay. LOL. Tetep aja ini lagu tentang cinta-cintaan, tapi di portray dengan music video yang ingin menyampaikan pesan lain. Singkatnya, yaudah deh gapapa kita banyak perbedaan, kan perbedaan bisa saling mengisi :)
Belom juga genap seminggu promosi setelah rilis, eh ada aja fan yang bacot bilang dia nggak suka lagunya??? It didn't met her expectation gitu and she sounds so disappointed. And Ravi is apologizing. THE FUCK IS HAPPENING HERE?!
Ok, first of all. Hey, fucktard uglies who has the gut to pointed out directly to my man that his release was lacking compared to his other own masterpieces, TURN ON YOUR LOCATIONS!
Yes, criticism is important. Dia tumbuh sebagai produser/composer juga karena banyak kritik. Most of it are harsh criticism. Kalian gak capek apa sama komentar orang-orang yang dari jaman baheula bilang style rap dia itu nggak masuk taste banyak orang? To be honest, his style wasn't my preference either but I never complain about that AND to remind you that he is my ult despite his flaws, I like him as well mannered and upright person as well as someone who has a clean trace. But to heard a criticism that came directly from a fan, sure, he's sad. Shame on you.
He was apologizing in such mannered way too, ah, gimana gue enggak sedih. Why do he have to apologize? Engga apa apa sayang, kalau ada yang gak suka udah biarin aja, you still have tons of people who like your music and everything about it. Don't worry.
